Hands-On Number Recognition

Number recognition is something every child needs to know and fine motor skills are constantly being developed! This activity conveniently combined the two!

To make:
Supplies:
• pipe cleaners
• 4″x6″ index cards cut into one inch by six inch strips
• clear packing tape
• sharpie marker

Using the sharpie, write the numeral, word form or dot form of each number. I started with zero and went to ten. I also placed the numeral and dot on the same strip (opposite ends) as well as a set of word form number sticks.

Fold the strips in half. Place around the pipe cleaner. Use the packing tape to attach the strips and to laminate them!

To play: add pony beads!

I plan to make addition and subtraction sticks next year when we start studying those areas!
