The Day The Babies Crawled Away (by: Peggy Rathmann)

AR Book Level: 2.5

Scholastic Book Level: 1.8

Summary: While at a picnic one day, a little boy sees some babies crawling away from the festivities. He follows them to make sure that they aren’t in any danger and then brings them back safely to their parents.

Review: This is not your classic Peggy Rathmann. I thought it would be more like “Officer Buckle and Gloria”, but it wasn’t. I personally did not enjoy this book at all but my daughter did enjoy it.

Activities:

Over at Art for Little Hands, she showed an extremely cute silhouette activity that would go along great with this story as all of the pictures are done in silhouette.

Over at Yakaberry Preschool, they have a unit on Babies that includes “The Day The Babies Crawled Away” as a book that they read.
